The Catcher in the Rye /Kdo chytá v žitě/ - anglicky

The Catcher in the Rye is best known book by David Salinger. This novell became classic since 1951, when it was publicated. Salinger skillfully writes about young growing up adolescent Holden. Whole book is written from Holden eyes, which are full of funny critic as is often in his age. Most interesting parts in the book are his comments, that pertinently describe people around him. His life is not funny at all. He is kicked out from pack of schools, but he doesn't wanna change his lifestyle, which is full of ironic. He sees how many people are fools and he's trying to escape from this world, which is "deppressing as hell".
But the book is not just a comedy, because if you think a bit, while you are reading, you can find out some references to social status and to disturb children; they are finding their integration to society. Later Holden ran away from school and started to enjoy his freedom. He met prostitutes and other strange persons. Salinger uses american slang, so it could be for somebody a bit difficult to read it at start, but after a while you get accustomed to his language.

Author was born in New York and he experienced the second world war. He studied private McBurney School and then the Valley Forge Militarry Academy. As freshman he learned at the NYU (New York University), then he had to work at cruise ship. After that he was sent to meat-import business to Vienna like his father. He left Austria only a month before this country got under Hitler's control. Salinger was drafted into the Army in 1942, where he saw the fiercest combat in World War II, including action on Utah Beach and in the Battle of the Bulge. During the campaign from Normandy into Germany he met Ernest Hemingway in Paris.
